The breeding goal for VikingJersey is a healthy cow with good fertility, functional conformation and high production. The breeding goal is described in our NTM Index (Nordic Total Merit), which is an economic index, ensuring maximum progress for all economically important traits and best success for the farmers.

Our Jersey cows are effective when it comes to transforming feed into milk. The VikingJerseys have good fertility, strong feet, good mammary, good longevity and high milk production.

This unique combination of VikingJersey qualities guarantees your success. Take a look at our VikingJersey sire line up.

Genomic selection is an important tool when VikingGenetics finds the genetically best bull calves for the breeding program. In VikingGenetics, we do genomic tests on 500 Jersey bull calves per year, and the best 40 will be used in AI. We also produce embryos from the top genomically tested Jersey heifers.

VikingJersey Production

The breeding population in VikingJersey is almost 70,000 milk recorded cows primarily in Denmark. Danish Jersey is the world-leader, and VikingGenetics’ Jersey bulls range high in international top lists.

Interbull evaluations

The International Bull Evaluation Service shows excellent performance for VikingJersey compared to bulls from the rest of the world. VikingGenetics bulls are the top performers in Yield, Udder Health, Longevity and  Daughter fertility for daughter-proven bulls (born 2012 or later). The Nordic countries have managed to combine high yield with superior health and reproduction.
The International Bull Evaluation Service (Interbull) is a permanent subcommittee of the International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR). Interbull is the worldwide network providing genetic information services for improvement of livestock.
